Join friends and neighbors for the 41st annual Music in Plymouth!
Entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. with a variety of local favorites performing. The musical line up will culminate with a performance by the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, with special guest trumpeter Charles Lazarus. (Due to the uncertainty of the ongoing labor dispute between the management and the musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra, it became necessary to move forward with planning for this year’s event without the inclusion of the Minnesota Orchestra. This marks the first year in the event’s history that the Minnesota Orchestra will not perform.)
The pre-orchestra entertainment line-up includes a diverse mix of notable, locally-based ensembles:
♦ Belladiva, performing Divas through the Decades
♦ Socaholix, a high energy dance band with members from Africa and the Caribbean
♦ The Irresistibles featuring Mick Sterling, a retro-soul band fronted by vocal powerhouses Katie Gearty and Cate Fierro, along with Sterling
♦ Fire-dancers will perform just prior to the fireworks display.
♦ Roving entertainers will stroll through the crowd. Children will enjoy face painters and crazy hair. A variety of concessions will be available. Picnic suppers may be brought to the event. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets.
Seating/Staking Policy: Due to underground wiring and sprinkling systems, a strict policy prohibiting staking and roping off of seating areas is in effect. The site will be closed to the public on July 1. Residents will not be allowed to leave blankets, chairs or tarps on the ground until after 7 a.m. on July 2.
Dogs: For the well being of your pet and the comfort of other people at this well-attended event, please leave your dog at home.
Shuttle Service: Starting at 4:30 p.m., Plymouth Metrolink will provide shuttle service to the event from West Lutheran High School, 34th Avenue N. and Fernbrook Lane, and from Plymouth Creek Elementary School, Vicksburg Lane and 41st Avenue N. The shuttle will run throughout the event. Plymouth police will be at the site to direct cars with handicap plates or permits to designated parking areas.
Rain Date: In case of rain, the entire line up of entertainment and fireworks will be presented at the same location on Tues., July 9 at 5 p.m.
Support Music in Plymouth: The Plymouth Civic League presents Music in Plymouth with the support of the City of Plymouth and Plymouth businesses and residents. You can support the event with a "Friends of the League" membership with a minimum $25 donation. For more information, visit musicinplymouth.org.
